The important difference between the Lilah and Zakaat charities
Please continue your support of the Association by increasing your contribution during Ramadan, InshaAllah. We pray to the Almighty Allah (SWT) that we may continue to help and support our youth, who will be the leaders of tomorrow.
LILAH
LILAH: means ‘ for Allah’, comprises any form of charity given in the cause of Allah on a voluntary basis. This charity is over and above zakah that a person is liable for. Zakah can only be spent directly on the poor, and not on projects such as construction. However, Lilah can be used for the construction of Masjids, schools, wells etc.
ZAKAAT
ZAKAAT: One of the most important principles in Islam is that everything belongs to Allah, thus wealth is held by people, in trust. The word Zakat means ‘ to purify’. All Muslims who can afford to must give zakat in order to purify their wealth.
“ Take from their wealth so that you might purify and sanctify them.” ( Holy Quran,9:103)
